The Premise

Dropped in a strange city. Empty pockets. Just a quiz between you and home.

Your only way forward is what you know. Answer trivia to scrape together bus fare to the next city, then the next, then somehow cross the Pacific. Trade regional souvenirs to get ahead, keep your morale from bottoming out, and satisfy the odd mission for Martha back at HQ. A network of ten eccentric handlers, from Professor Okafor to Chef Isabella to the nature-obsessed AI DARWIN-7, hold the visas that unlock the rest of the world.

Questions

What kind of game is Trailmarks?

Trailmarks is a singleplayer trivia quiz game inspired by Carmen Sandiego and Backpacker I & II. You answer geography and culture trivia while finding an affordable route, by flight, ferry, train or bus, to circumnavigating a living 3D globe of 1,000 real cities.

Is Trailmarks a quiz game or a travel game?

Both. The trivia quiz mechanic funds your travel: correct answers earn the money you need to reach the next city, so quizzing and journeying are the same loop. If you're very ambitious, you can also fund your journey by trading in local souvenirs.

What platforms is Trailmarks available on?

Trailmarks is out now on Steam for Windows and macOS, and on the Mac App Store and Microsoft Store. There's no mobile (iPhone/iPad) version yet.

What languages does Trailmarks support?

Trailmarks is playable in nine languages: English, Norwegian, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese.

Is there a demo?

Yes, a free demo is available on the Steam store page — try your way through France and Spain before you buy.
